MBK HOMES' TIM KANE NAMED BUILDER OF THE YEAR

Builder and Developer Magazine Honors Local Homebuilder

IRVINE, CALIF. - Spearheading the development and opening of four new communities, site acquisition for future properties and community outreach initiatives, MBK Homes Southern California president Tim Kane has been named Builder of the Year by Builder and Developer magazine.

A key member of the MBK Homes team since its inception in 1995, Kane began his career building bridges in Alaska while attending college. After receiving his degree in Finance, Kane moved to Southern California and enrolled at Orange Coast College, focusing his efforts on the school's Construction Management courses. His education and experience working for Barratt American Homes led him to the Birtcher Group, which later became MBK Homes.

In 2007, MBK Homes unveiled four communities throughout the Southland: Ravello, a collection of 114 luxury townhomes in Whittier; Eton, a collection of 44 courtyard homes in Chino; Celamonte, a collection of 119 townhomes in Chino Hills; and Greenbrier, a collection of 104 luxury homes in Yorba Linda. Ranging in price from the high $200,000s to $1 million, homes built by MBK are geared towards first time and move up homebuyers.

"One of our key goals at MBK Homes is to build impeccable homes in areas that are surrounded by numerous job opportunities, excellent school systems and transportation resources," said Kane. "We've implemented unique strategies to reach those goals and firmly believe our efforts result in a home in which families can enjoy for many years together."

As a proactive member of the MBK Homes team, Kane participates in walk-throughs to ensure homes are built to the company's standard of excellence and initiated several methods to meet this standard. To complement the construction audits, customized home warranties and customer surveys, Kane also created a full-time quality control auditor position for MBK Homes. Responsible for inspecting homes, the quality control auditor acts as the "buyer's advocate" and will postpone walk-throughs if the residence does not meet MBK Homes' standards. These integral steps help to deliver the exceptional homes for which MBK has become known.

In addition to building high quality homes, customer service is an important element of MBK Homes' mission. Modeling itself after the hospitality industry, the homebuilder focuses on five factors that lead to customer satisfaction: treating customers graciously, meeting its commitments, improving efficiencies, anticipating customer needs and increasing referrals.

"To be named Builder of the Year is such an incredible honor, not only for myself, but for everyone at MBK Homes," said Kane. "As we move forward in 2008, our core values will remain the same: to build the finest homes and neighborhoods in our markets and to provide the highest level of service to our customers. These values are the reason why we have had success in the current market and will continue to set us apart from our competitors."

MBK Homes continues to expand its homebuilding activities in some of Southern California's most desirable locations. MBK neighborhoods include Foxborough and Rivermist in Corona, Medallion in Beaumont, Tremont at Serrano Heights in Orange, Somervale in Riverside, Ravello in Whittier, Celamonte in Chino Hills, Eton at College Park in Chino and Greenbrier in Yorba Linda. MBK Homes is planning additional communities at Aragon in Signal Hill, Trieste in Lake Elsinore and 1600 at Artesia Square in Gardena.
