Feb. 15--A 66-unit development in Citrus Heights is set to break ground on Friday.
The Camden Place project is set on a 6.5-acre parcel near the intersection of Auburn Boulevard and Greenback Lane. The two-story, single-family homes will range in size from 987 square feet to 1,793 square feet, according to developer MBK Homes, which has local offices in Granite Bay.
The project was the developer's first in this region and by a spokesman's account, the process went well.
"It was pretty smooth," said MBK Community Development Director Jason Gray.
The project received its final approval in December, closing out a nearly two-year process. MBK purchased the project from developer Regis Homes of Sacramento, Gray said.
At the groundbreaking ceremony Friday will be Citrus Heights Mayor Jeff Slowey and MBK Homes of Northern California President Jon Tattersall.
According to Gray, homes should be ready for sale by April or May, with the first closings as soon as this summer.
The units are expected to sell between the low $300,000s and the mid $400,000s, he said.
The Citrus Heights project is the first of 600 homes planned in the region by the Irvine-based MBK Homes, according to an earlier report in The Bee.
MBK plans to start more houses this year in Natomas and in Elk Grove's new Laguna Ridge Specific Plan area being marketed as Madeira, according to the story.
A division of the Japanese general trading firm Mitsui & Co. Ltd., MBK plans still more houses in Folsom and Roseville. Long-range, it's eyeing expansions into the East Bay, Interstate 680 corridor and Reno from a Sacramento-area headquarters, according to the story.
